Webinar: Preservational Prosthetic w. Clarence Tam

Price: 150 Euro

Duration: 1,5 hour

Posterior restoration success has much to do with the principles in primary anatomy that are often focused on and restricted to only anterior teeth. The art of layering posterior composites is not only a functional art, it reflects our desire to mimic nature in esthetics also in our practice of Bio-Emulation.

Conversely, there are anatomical features of anterior teeth that are often neglected, just because they are out of direct frontal sight.  When are teeth "too weak" for some restorative materials?  How does one dial in the occlusion to maximize success using modern direct materials some never thought possible to use in extensive applications?  How can we humanely and successfully place large restorations with a conservative slant in youngsters with massive structural deficits?  What are the keys to success in posterior bonding besides esthetic?  How do we minimize post-operative sensitivity and marginal leakage?  How do we maximize shear bond strengths to the substrate, much of which is "unpredictable" dentin?

We will review curing strategies for best long-term clinical success.

Learning Outcomes:

1) The attendee will learn the ideal balance of pink:white esthetics for functional and esthetic restorative harmony in both posterior and anterior applications.

2) The attendee will review the protocol to achieve optimal bond strengths to zirconia and a technique factor that can weaken certain types of zirconia.

3) The attendee will be guided through the placement of anterior palatal anatomy with composite resin to protect eroded surfaces from further damage.

4) The attendee will learn to consider the residual structural features of compromised teeth to determine the best restorative technique and prognosis.

5) The attendee will be guided through a case featuring a semi-direct back to back composite crown fabrication and cementation sequence in a 13 year old female.

6) The attendee will be guided through an ideal layering protocol for Class I and II situations along with staining mode and timing of placement.

7) The attendee will learn the ideal method of minimizing cervical leakage which is the primary concern in Class V direct restorations long-term.

8) The attendee will learn a novel technique for marginal ridge fabrication that features vertical layering.

9) The attendee will learn how to simultaneously maximize micro shear bond strengths in marginal ridge layering technique as well as minimize post-operative sensitivity

10) The attendee will review what features of modern curing lights are essential for maximal effectiveness.  What are the caviats?   MEET CLARENCE TAM, HBSC, DDS, AAACD, FIADFE  Dr. Clarence Tam is originally from Toronto,Canada, where she completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery and General Practice Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto, respectively. Clarence’s practice has a focus on restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and she strives to provide consistently exceptional care with each patient. She is well-published in both the local and international dental press, writing articles, reviewing submissions, and developing prototype products and techniques in clinical dentistry. She frequently and continually lectures internationally.  Clarence has multi-faceted dentistry experience that extends across multiple tiers of leadership. She is the immediate past Chairperson and Director of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.   She is one of merely two dentists in Australasia who are Board-Certified Accredited Members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Moreover, Clarence maintains Fellowship status with the International Academy for DentoFacial Esthetics. She sits on the Advisory Board for Dental Asia, and is part of the Restorative Advisory Panel for Henry Schein Dental New Zealand.  Aside from the professional organizations she belongs to, Clarence is a Key Opinion leader for an array of global dental companies, including Triodent, Coltene,Kuraray Noritake, Hu-Friedy, J Morita Corp, Henry Schein, Ivoclar Vivadent,Kerr, GC Australasia, SDI, and DentsplySirona. Moreover, she is the sole Voco Fellow in New Zealand and Australia.  Clarence participates in a number of charitable endeavors and takes great pride in achieving beautiful smiles for patients in and around her community. She sits on the board of Smiles For the Pacific, an educational trust and charity that aims to expand professional dentistry services across the entire South Pacific region.  She is involved with Delta Gamma Sorority and aims to spearhead projects harmonious with Service for Sight in the South Pacific.
